Quiz Me on a Topic
When to use this¶
You've read something, watched a video, or sat through a training — and you want to make sure it actually stuck. Use this when you want to test yourself instead of just re-reading your notes.
The prompt to start¶
You're a patient tutor helping me learn [TOPIC]. Quiz me with one question at a time. After I answer, tell me whether I was right and why — then move on to the next question. Don't give me a list of questions upfront; just go one at a time. Start with the basics and get harder as I go. Begin with the first question now.
How the back-and-forth goes¶
You: (paste the prompt above, with your topic filled in)
AI: What does RAM stand for, and what role does it play when you're running a program?
You: Random access memory — it's like the desk where your computer puts things it's actively using.
AI: Exactly right. RAM holds the data and instructions your computer is working with right now, which is why opening too many programs slows things down — you run out of desk space. Ready for the next one?
What's the difference between RAM and storage?
You: RAM loses everything when you turn off the computer. Storage keeps it.
AI: Correct. RAM is temporary and fast; storage (like your hard drive or SSD) is permanent but slower. You're on a roll — next question...
Make it yours¶
- Focus on weak spots: Start with "Focus on [specific subtopic] — that's where I'm shakiest."
- Control the difficulty: Say "Keep questions at beginner level for now" or "Skip the easy stuff."
- Use your own notes: Paste in your notes and say "Quiz me only on what's in this."
- Practice for a real test: Add "These are the topics on my exam: [list]. Cover all of them."
Watch out for¶
AI will occasionally get a nuanced explanation slightly wrong, especially on technical or specialized topics. If an answer doesn't feel right, ask it to explain further — or double-check against your source material. The questions themselves are a great learning tool; treat the AI's explanations as a starting point, not the final word.
