Tracked Sources
A handful of recurring research franchises — annual State-of-AI surveys, AI-readiness indexes, workforce studies, prediction series — supply most of the statistics in this knowledge base. Each ships new editions on a predictable cadence; when a newer edition lands, every page citing the prior one is a refresh candidate. This registry is the public record of which edition of each franchise the bundle currently relies on, and when to check for a newer one. How current the underlying sources are is itself part of the provenance.
What "latest edition" means here: the newest edition we have verified and cite — not a claim about the newest edition that exists. When a franchise is past its stale-after date, that is a prompt to go check for a newer edition, not an assertion that one is published. Confirming a new edition is semi-manual (these publishers block automated fetchers): a recency-filtered search surfaces a candidate, the operator verifies it, then updates the registry and the affected citations. Live freshness status is available to the operator via evidence.py sources.
